The average price for these products is lower than for other materials with comparable characteristics, for example, aluminium or timber. Thermal insulation has become increasingly important in recent years. Windows and exterior doors are an important component in the system of thermal insulation for the entire house. In addition to the profiles of uPVC or vinyl windows, thermal insulating glass is a significant factor in the field of insulation. Double glazed windows can already make the difference between an energy-efficient and an energy-wasting household.
By adding another sealing layer in the middle of the window frame, even greater insulation is achieved. In addition to soundproof glazing, this centre seal also has a positive effect on acoustics.
For uPVC and also for all other materials, insulating glazing is available as double glazed or triple glazed. Each of these options offers different heat transfer coefficients (U-value):
The unit of the heat transfer coefficient (U-value) describes how much energy is lost through a structural component – in this case the pane or glass – on one square metre when the temperature difference on both sides of the component is one Kelvin. A low value is therefore preferable to a high value. A deviation of 0.1 W/(m2K) can already cause large differences in the energy efficiency of the house.

Energy costs are rising continuously and the topic of insulation is becoming increasingly important. To be considered suitable for passive houses, the Building Energy Act GEG of Germany stipulates a maximum U-value of 0.8 W/m²K for windows and doors. One of the greatest advantages of uPVC casement windows is that they are low-maintenance and easy to clean. A little warm water and detergent usually help against normal dirt. If you want to do something good for your windows, use special PVC window cleaners that prevent dirt from sticking and causing discolouration. Important: never use abrasive milk or agents containing chlorine, as these attack the material. And don't forget to clean the hinges and gaskets once a year.
The days when uPVC windows were uniformly white are long gone; today you can choose from a large number of colours and decors to influence the window style. Even cosy wood designs can be configured as desired, including mahogany or even golden oak. Compared to real wood, your window with wood decor remains weatherproof, UV-resistant and easy to maintain.
You can determine the height and width of your uPVC windows individually and select up to three sashes. There are no binding standard window sizes; the ideal dimensions depend on many factors, some of them personal. For the south side of a house, for example, large window areas are ideal for letting in a lot of light. The technically feasible minimum and maximum dimensions are always displayed in the window configurator.
In addition to saving on what your windows cost, it is above all the lower maintenance that is most outstanding for uPVC or vinyl windows. Thanks to modern construction with a multi-chamber system, they are in no way inferior to wooden windows in terms of thermal insulation and are sometimes even better. We use the so-called extrusion process for the colour of our vinyl windows. In this process, the frame is heated again during the production process and sprayed with a special adhesive. The respective decorative film is then applied and fused firmly to the surface through high pressure. This makes the colour UV-resistant, long-lasting and colour-fast even after many years.
Steel reinforcements serve to increase the stability and improve the security of uPVC windows. For this reason, except for the energeto 8000 ED, all our uPVC profiles are equipped with a bolted steel reinforcement as standard. In place of this, the energeto 8000 ED has a reinforcement made of the innovative plastic Ultradur® High Speed, which has the same effect as steel but provides better thermal insulation values.
