Winkhaus activPilot Window Fittings

Just like secure handles, glazing, and frames, high-quality protective fittings are also crucial for windows and doors. The fittings from Winkhaus provide stability to the components and are key security elements for your entire home. Innovative, easily adjustable locking systems – featuring multipoint ventilation that helps save energy – are just some of the advantages of the activPilot window fittings. These systems can be retrofitted at any time and ensure a high level of security for your windows and balcony doors.

Individual Security

Our modular window frames are designed for flexibility and easy customisation. Whether you’re looking to adapt the frame and layout or enhance security, these windows can be configured to meet your specific needs. Upgrading to Resistance Class 2 (RC2) security windows is simple – additional locking mechanisms can be integrated without hassle. We make it easy to customise your window security to RC2 standards. All locks and fittings are RAL-certified, ensuring top-quality performance and durability.

Easy to Adjust

The activPilot locking system features an innovative octagonal locking cam and striker plate, designed for quick and easy window adjustment. This adjustable window hardware allows for simple, tool-free fine-tuning of the locking mechanism – no need to worry about precise tolerances. The activPilot series offers enhanced usability and security, ensuring customisable window performance.

High Quality

The excellent quality of Winkhaus activPilot fittings is proven through rigorous RAL endurance testing, ensuring you’re investing in durable window hardware.

Energy Efficient

With multiple opening options, our tilt-and-turn windows allow you to tilt the sash for controlled, energy-efficient ventilation. This allows for continuous airflow without the heat loss of a fully open window.

Elegant Design

Our high-quality window profiles offer more than just functionality – they’re designed to look great too. From the profile shape to the individual hardware and fittings, our windows stand out from the low-cost, mass-produced models found in typical hardware stores.

Flexible Configuration

The activPilot series is engineered with flexibility and modularity at its core. This means that if your window requirements change over time, you can easily reconfigure your existing windows to add new or different functions – without the need to purchase or install entirely new units.

Basic Security

All our windows come equipped with standard security hardware, including a locking point at the base operated by a secure locking cam. Depending on the size of your custom window, up to three additional locking points are included for enhanced protection.

Resistance Class 1 N in accordance with DIN V ENV 1627

The Resistance Class 1N (RC1N) security level is defined by the DIN V ENV 1627 standard. It requires secure locking cams and points on both the handle and hinge sides, at the top and bottom. The window also includes anti-drill and anti-pry protection. For added security, 8 mm laminated safety glass is recommended for the external pane, along with two additional locks on each side.

Resistance Class 2 N in accordance with DIN V ENV 1627

Resistance Class 2N (RC2N) is defined by the DIN V ENV 1627 standard. Both the handle and hinge sides must be secured with locking cams and points at the top and bottom. Depending on window size, additional central locks are added. All security hardware includes anti-drill and anti-pry protection. P4A impact-resistance glass, in line with DIN EN 356, is bonded into the window for added strength.

Winkhaus Secure Window Hardware

A window’s overall security depends not only on the glazing, such as laminated safety glass, but also on the quality of hardware like locks and handles. Most burglars attempt to pry windows open rather than break the glass, which creates more noise and attention.

The Winkhaus activPilot system features durable, high-quality security hardware designed to enhance window protection and give you peace of mind. Windows can be easily upgraded to Resistance Class 1 or 2 (RC1 or RC2), depending on their location. For example, ground-floor windows benefit from added security, while upper-floor windows may not require it.

Energy Efficiency

While often overlooked by customers, the window industry has seen just as much innovation as other sectors. Modern manufacturing techniques, evolving standards, and new technologies have led to energy-efficient windows with insulation levels previously thought impossible. With growing environmental awareness and stricter regulations, today’s window profiles are a world apart from the draughty models of the past.

Beyond glazing, window hardware plays a key role in energy efficiency by ensuring stability and functional design. For example, tilt-and-turn windows allow for controlled ventilation as you can tilt the sash instead of opening it fully, helping you let in fresh air without significant heat loss.

Pivot/Tilt Windows

Tilt-and-turn windows have long been a standard in European window design and are becoming increasingly popular worldwide. Their appeal lies in the dual function opening system. While traditional windows only open by swinging the sash inward with a handle, tilt and turn windows also offer a tilt function for controlled ventilation. In this mode, the sash remains connected to the frame at two opposite points and tilts inward toward the user. This provides a convenient and energy-efficient way to enjoy continuous fresh air – whether during the day or overnight.

Sliding Windows

Sliding windows are another practical window option to consider. Instead of opening inward, outward, or tilting, these windows slide open parallel to the frame. This space-saving design is available in all material types – vinyl, wood, or aluminium-clad wood. Special scissor bearings ensure smooth and easy sliding operation. Most sliding window systems can also be upgraded with added security features, such as reinforced frame devices or tilt-secure mechanisms, to help prevent break-ins.
