Configure nowNot to be confused with traditional hung sash or double hung windows, the term “sash” in the sense of double-sash or double-part windows, refers to the two fixed or operable glazed panels that are attached to the frame that can potentially be swung or tilted open.
At windows24.com we offer standard double windows are well as those with an additional top or bottom fanlight. This is an extra glazed element placed above or below each sash or that runs across them.
To ensure that our windows and doors can fit various openings and building types, the products can come in many different sizes.
In the configurator you can find the minimum and maximum width and height ranges for your selections and add measurements into the interactive boxes. For further help please also refer to our measuring guides or contact the team.
The width of each sash can be determined as part of the total window width and the height of the main sashes compared to an optional additional window fanlight can also be set.
For customers prioritising maximum security and where interiors already have a good source of ventilation, fixed panels that don’t open can be recommended. On the other hand, to air interiors, one panel can be fixed and the other openable, or both sashes can rather be individually operable; different combinations of our innovative German tilt and turn opening system can then be selected from. In terms of this tilt and turn system, when the handle is turned to 90° anticlockwise, the window can be swung inwards on side hinges to provide maximum ventilation. On the other hand, when the handle is turned to 180°, the sash can rather be titled ajar for a more subtle breeze.
For our standard double windows without a fanlight, depending on the chosen opening, customers can choose whether or not the two parts should be separated by a central bar, also known as a mullion. If a central bar is not present, a so-called flying mullion design is created where the sashes can swing in to either side to create a full opening for sweeping views out.
Alongside their frame material, size, and opening system, our doors and windows can be further tailored to your specific replacement or new-build requirements and preferences. Matching roller shutters and glazing bars, can be added, for example, or the glass can be tailored for improved security, insulation, style, and privacy. A wide choice of colour and decor finishes are then also available as are complementary sills, and additional fittings for enhanced security.
