Increased security for the ABUS FOS 550 bar lock

The ABUS BSB550 bottom strike plate is an optional accessory for the ABUS FOS 550 or FOS 550A window bar lock, which is used to secure balcony and patio doors up to 3.10 m high.

The striking plate allows the ABUS FOS550 window lock to be attached to the floor.

It can be used if there is a gap of 7 to 22 mm between the bottom edge of the door and the floor, while a gap of at least 2 mm must be maintained under the transom plate. Please note that a bar lock and bar set are required for double sashed windows and doors without positioning posts, as the window sashes will interlock. However, if there is a positioning post, two bar locks and two bar sets will be required. In the case of double sash windows, a minimum distance of 58 mm from gear centre to gear centre is necessary.

Important accessories for window and door security

The ABUS BSB 550 utilises VdS-approved and DIN-tested technology to ensure break-in protection; this can be seen in window bar locks FOS550 and FOS550A with their pressure resistance of over one tonne per attachment point. The bolt bars with interlocking mechanism then click into the striking plate, and the lock is locked using the handle of the window/door. The bottom strike plate can be used in tight spaces, i.e. if the height of the window frame below the window sash is less than 23 mm. The striking plates provided are only suitable up to a distance of 97 mm. The ABUS DSB 550 double striking plate is used to fasten the bar lock on double-sashed windows. The bars come in a variety of lengths.
