Glazing Bars for Your Composite Sliding Door

No matter if for a front, patio or balcony entrance – doors and windows are nowadays not only selected for pragmatic reasons as style and design have become selection criteria as well. For those who think that a simple broad glass front might appear too boring, there is a large choice of composite sliding systems with glazing bars that will give the balcony or patio door a completely new look.

These vertical or horizontal bracers provide additional stability to any frame with an infill element. They were necessary at a time when it was not possible to produce window glazing in adequate sizes. Instead, big surfaces were divided into smaller elements. This solution to the problem was especially popular during the art noveau period. The bars can be differentiated the following ways:

  • dividing
  • interior
  • Vienna

The glass dividing – or "true" – bar is the most complicated to manufacture and therefore tends to be the most expensive type for composite sliding doors. In this variation, individual glasses are indeed separated from each other, the latter two variants are focussed more on decorative effect. The Vienna type consists of a combination of spacer elements in the space between the panes and a glued-on dummy bar. The interior variant, on the other hand, consists of powder coated aluminium inside the space between the glazing panes of a window or door. windows24.com can equip your composite sliding door with bars according to your individual wishes.

Glass-separation Bars

This style of window bar is also known as "real bars" as the bars genuinely separate the insulating glass panes. Each indvidual panel of bars is fitted with its own small pane of insulating glass. This type of window bar is available in the following sizes: 45 mm, 55 mm, 80 mm and 130 mm.

Vienna-style Window Bars

A "Vienna window bar" consists of specially integrated distance spacer profiles which have no actual contact to the surfaces of the glass. The window constructor then lays bars down onto the outside of the panes in order to create the impression of having insulating glass with real window bars, but also without any of the usual static load. These bars are available in the following sizes: 22 mm, 32 mm and 42 mm.

Helima-style Window Bars

A "Helima window bar" is actually a powder-coated aluminium bar which has been fitted within the gap between the glass panes. It looks just like a real bar prepared by a craftsman. The powder coating is available in the colours Bronze C34 and C33 as well as in white. If you do opt for one of the bronze shades, then we also recommend that for wood window configurations you also choose the rain protection rail and the sash cover profil in the same colour. These bars are available in the following sizes: 18 mm, 26 mm and 45 mm.
